Afro Hair Transplant
Afro-hair transplant is a type of hair transplant surgery that involves transplanting hair follicles taken from an individual with tightly curled or spiral hair, usually of African descent, to an area of the scalp experiencing hair loss or thinning.
Like other hair transplant surgeries, Afro hair transplant can be performed using the Sapphire or DHI method. The procedures are exactly the same, but since the hair follicles are also curly under the skin, the FUE stage may take longer than usual. Because it is essential to perform extraction while preserving the graft tissue.
What Type of Afro Hair Do I Have?
There are a variety of Afro hair types, and determining your own hair type help us better understand how to extract grefts hair in fue. The most widely used classification system for Afro hair types was created by stylists. Andre Walker categorizes hair types from 1A (straight hair) to 4C (oily hair). Here are the different Afro hair types:
Type 1: Typically straight hair that tends to be thin and oily.
Type 2: Wavy hair that is slightly wavy and can range from fine to coarse.
Type 3: Curly hair, which has a more pronounced curl pattern and can range from loose curls to corkscrew curls.
Type 4: Curly hair that has a very tight curl pattern and can range from small coils to very tight coils.
Each hair type may have more variations in texture, porosity, and thickness. Knowing your specific hair type help you choose the most suitable technique for you.
What is advantage to have Afro Hair?
Afro hair transplantation may require a difficult and long procedure due to the curly structure of the graft root in the subcutaneous tissue. However, as curly hair has more volume, it positively affects the density of the results.
How long does the surgery take?
The surgery takes around 6 hours. However, you might have to short breaks for your needs. (Restroom, lunch etc.) When break times are added, the surgery duration may reach 6-7 hours.
Things to Consider After Surgery
The first week after brace placement can be tough for you. If you feel pain and wobble in your teeth, the reason is that the movement starts as a result of the pressure exerted by the braces on the teeth. This pain disappears after a maximum of 1 week. Be careful not to overfeed during this time. (broth, puree, vegetables, pilafs, acid-free fruit juices) You can use pain relievers such as Parol other than aspirin 1-2 times a day. Brush your teeth after every meal or even if you just have a snack. Then use an antibacterial mouthwash. You should always use the brush and paste recommended by your orthodontist. Even if you can't brush right away, at least rinse your mouth with water. While brushing your teeth, brush in a sweeping style from the gum to the tooth so that your brush massages your gums. Clean the edges of the brackets and under the wires with an interdental brush at least once a day.
